Salvation Army – Brass Bands
The Salvation Army has a long history with brass bands. They have contributed greatly to the growth of brass bands around the world and, in particular, to the volume of brass band music composed by amazing Salvation Army composers. The Jericho Brass is fortunate to have a great relationship with the Chattanooga Salvation Army.
Great Relationship
The local Salvation Army provides us generously with rehearsal space, office space and some storage. The Jericho Brass supports the annual Kettle Drive with a concert at Hamilton Place Mall. Additionally, small ensembles from the band encourage giving to the Kettle Drive by playing Christmas tunes at various market venues throughout the Chattanooga area.
Easter Sunrise Service
An enduring gift to the Chattanooga community was the origination of an Easter Sunrise Service at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. This event was originated by Salvationist, Otis “The Major” Street. It is a tribute to him that Jericho Brass supports this service annually.
