The instruments in a “pure” British Brass Band are strict and, although that is the model for the Jericho Brass Band, there is flexibility. This is due to the ebb and flow of members due to “life” and the desire to accommodate anyone who can and wants to participate. Each member is expected to provide their own instrument although occasionally a loaner can be arranged.
The Jericho Brass usually performs concerts in “full dress” uniform. This is a blue blazer with JB emblem, white shirt, black bow tie, tux trousers and black socks and shoes. The blazer, tie and trousers are provided by the band to new members at no charge. For more casual events, a uniform polo shirt is used. It is purchased by the member for about $20. Additionally, members often need to take stands (and lights) to concerts. Most have their own for this purpose but Jericho Brass stands can be loaned if necessary.
